BASSETLAW PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE (BPAC) is a new, fun, exciting place where people of all ages can benefit from expert tuition.
Nestled in the heart of Retford, BPAC’s studios offer a comfortable, relaxed environment to learn and enjoy exploring aspects of the Creative Arts.
Music students of all ages are encouraged to sing music of their choice and have fun whilst learning sound, solid vocal technique, breath control and diction.
The results are often instantaneous.
For the more adventurous students, they can study for LCM popular music and Musical theatre vocal exams, or ABRSM for the more classically minded students.
Piano/keyboard, violin and music theory coaching is also offered.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Jonathan Barker GDLM (1st)
Founder Jonathan Barker (GDLM 1st) has spent his whole life as an educator and professional
musician, Musical Director, composer, songwriter, arranger, actor and singer.
Trained at Leeds College of Music and Arts Educational Schools in London, he has worked in all
aspects of entertainment. From London’s West End, to producing TV shows, arranging for P&O
and Cunard cruise ships and his music is published by Sony Music Publishing.
As an educator Jonathan was Head of Music for the London Centre for Theatre Studies and has
helped many private pupils gain places at leading collages of further education, including RADA and ARTS EDUCATIONAL SCHOOLS.
As an artiste, Jonathan has performed on some of the most prestigious stages in the UK and his music has been played played on BBC, ITV, SKY TV - as well as having written the music and lyrics to a Broadway Musical which is in pre-production on the other side of the Pond!
He has worked with some of the greatest choreographers, directors and producers of all time and now brings a wealth of experience and love of the Arts to his hometown of 18 years, Retford.
As a skilled Musical Director, fine pianist and acclaimed arranger, Jonathan’s skills are in much
demand across all platforms. He is very excited to embark upon his latest project, namely BPAC.
Bassetlaw is home to many great and aspiring artistes and Jonathan’s invaluable experience,
relaxed manner, will no doubt continue to help, encourage and guide students on their way.
